Commencement Dinner

Tonight was our semester start dinner party, and we were all required to wear our respect robes. I felt SO ridiculous wearing this graduation/minister/death robe out in public, but everyone else seemed pretty natural about it- so we went with it! It's it SO flattering?! Can't wait to wear this baby to class! Oh- and it fit great, but I wish they would have made them with more arm room...I don't think the 10 yards they allotted was enough :) .....kidding:

This is the best picture of the dining hall I could get. There were blue and silver balloons everywhere and each long table was assigned to different corridors.

Here's the least flattering picture of 2 girls EVER, but whatever- Talia and I starting the after party! Unfortunately, I got something white on my sleeve- hope that's not too disrespectful for the respect robe! ;)

Dinner was actually AMAZING for a change. We had steak and potatoes and chicken...it felt so nice to actually eat dinner in the cafeteria! If only every night could be commencement dinner...

Here's a funny story: I was talking to the people at my table about our robes and this Chinese guy said that when he first saw his hanging in the closet- he thought his room was cursed. So he very nicely folded up his robe and put it outside of his door in the hallway so that "the spirits wouldn't interrupt him while he slept." And then he prayed all night for his well-being. When I heard that, I absolutely LOST it laughing. All of the International students had different stories about what they thought the robes were for.

All in all, it was a great ending to a pretty crumby day! :)

Tomorrow's schedule is full of beach visiting and homework doing (...seriously, it really is).
