Hello, hello, hello.
Sorry I haven't updated in a couple weeks but life has been pretty slow in good ol' Edwards Hall! But here I am trying. Tonight I've been spending the whole night doing my very first school assignment of the semester! We had to make a collage person out of only letters. Tough life, right?! Anyway, I thought mine looked kind of cool...and yes, I'm still working on the lips ha ha. Getting back into my full class load when I'm at NAU next semester is going to kill me. I've been academically spoiled this semester!

On Sunday, it was ANZAC Day here in Aussieland. ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) Day remembers their soldiers that died 95 years ago in Gallipoli. I guess the ANZACs put half of their total men on the island, where they were killed and starved to death while fighting off enemies. ANYWAY, at first I thought it would be like Memorial Day in the U.S.A. but it was way different. Very sad.... a friend and I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and went to a sunrise dawn service on the beach. By the time we were there, this was our view...NOTHING. It was terrible. Not to mention the fact that it was pouring rain and we were right in the middle of a lightning storm...

Then tonight (Tuesday Night) back at TEDs, we had a birthday party for my neighbor Warwick, and a going away party for my really good friend, Caz. Caz just decided she was dropping out and moving home to go work for a few years. Not quite sure why, but it's really sad... I'm sure you've been recognizing her from half of the pictures I put up here. I'm really sad to see her go, but it's making me nervous about ME leaving in July when I'll be in the same boat! Soooo yeah, here's Warwick cutting his birthday cake:

Oh another thing I was going to say, is that over the last 72 hours I've completed 2 novels, which is not a Lauren thing at all to do! I don't think I've EVER read a book for pleasure that wasn't mandated by school. Anyway, I read Dear John (by Nicholas Sparks) and Key and Lock (by Sarah Dessen). Pretty much hooked!

The weather in Newcastle has starting getting a lot cooler (THANK GOD!!!) and the humidity has been cut in half. I actually am okay with being outside now! Still wearing shorts and t-shirts, but hey- I'll take ANY improvements! The other night when I was reading (for 12 hours straight, mind you) I got to see the sunrise from my window and it was really pretty:

Before I leave I have a funny story...so you know how I always talk about how bad the food is here? Alright so for dinner tonight, they had 2 options- chicken stir fry, or plum pork (*gag*). ANYWAY, I opted for the stir fry, but noticed the chicken was tasting a little weird... we ending up realized that they had switched the meats on accident and didn't even realize! The meat was so discolored that it looked just like pork. YEAH. GROSSSSSS. I just shivered thinking about it again. Yuck.

In the words of Rihanna, we're gonna run this town tonight. For sure. I miss you tons and I can't wait to see you when you get back and have you come up to stay at our new place!
July 1st, hurry up and bring Lauren back to America!!
Welcome to the world of reading for fun...hope you stay hooked...there are so many good books out there....
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm so jealous that's the only thing you've had to do all semester!!! Wanna do some of my work for me? I can't wait till finals are over with! I miss you so much, it's true!
