Boring Update.

Hello, hello, hello.
Sorry I haven't updated in a couple weeks but life has been pretty slow in good ol' Edwards Hall! But here I am trying. Tonight I've been spending the whole night doing my very first school assignment of the semester! We had to make a collage person out of only letters. Tough life, right?! Anyway, I thought mine looked kind of cool...and yes, I'm still working on the lips ha ha. Getting back into my full class load when I'm at NAU next semester is going to kill me. I've been academically spoiled this semester!
This weekend was pretty fun. On Friday and Saturday I went clothes shopping for the first time since I've been in Australia! I was getting really sick of my same 10 outfits sooooo I caught a bus to the mall, and splurged. Oh well- it feels REALLY nice to have at least a little more variety in my clothes again. I got jewelery too, which is something I was starting to miss.

On Sunday, it was ANZAC Day here in Aussieland. ANZAC (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) Day remembers their soldiers that died 95 years ago in Gallipoli. I guess the ANZACs put half of their total men on the island, where they were killed and starved to death while fighting off enemies. ANYWAY, at first I thought it would be like Memorial Day in the U.S.A. but it was way different. Very sad.... a friend and I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and went to a sunrise dawn service on the beach. By the time we were there, this was our view...NOTHING. It was terrible. Not to mention the fact that it was pouring rain and we were right in the middle of a lightning storm...
Some old ANZAC veterans who came together in a group.
These military people marched for about... 16 steps and then they were done. Little strange...
So after the ceremony, we went into town and despite the poring rain, played a game called "2-Up" at the bars. 2-Up is illegal to play any other time but on ANZAC Day. It's a coin game the soldiers used to play to pass the time. Lost $5 bucks, but it was still fun to be involved! :)

Then tonight (Tuesday Night) back at TEDs, we had a birthday party for my neighbor Warwick, and a going away party for my really good friend, Caz. Caz just decided she was dropping out and moving home to go work for a few years. Not quite sure why, but it's really sad... I'm sure you've been recognizing her from half of the pictures I put up here. I'm really sad to see her go, but it's making me nervous about ME leaving in July when I'll be in the same boat! Soooo yeah, here's Warwick cutting his birthday cake:
Caz was really surprised when we jumped out at her! It was a fun night; she leaves in the morning.
Oh for those of you who haven't heard via Facebook- I was elected Parliamentarian for my sorority next year! My little sister in the sorority got ADO, and my big sister? PRESIDENT!!!! WOOOO. My grand-big is president now, so this is my 2nd time being in the royal family! Ha ha. I hope someone appreciates how cool that is!

Oh another thing I was going to say, is that over the last 72 hours I've completed 2 novels, which is not a Lauren thing at all to do! I don't think I've EVER read a book for pleasure that wasn't mandated by school. Anyway, I read Dear John (by Nicholas Sparks) and Key and Lock (by Sarah Dessen). Pretty much hooked!

The weather in Newcastle has starting getting a lot cooler (THANK GOD!!!) and the humidity has been cut in half. I actually am okay with being outside now! Still wearing shorts and t-shirts, but hey- I'll take ANY improvements! The other night when I was reading (for 12 hours straight, mind you) I got to see the sunrise from my window and it was really pretty:
I'm now getting desperate for things to write about! So hey- look at the hairstyle that was pulled off tonight!!! Ha ha ha I would never, EVER wear this in public but it still looked cool for the time being!
I've been extra homesick this month, I can't seem to get over it. I'm going through baaaaad Blackberry withdrawals! I haven't eaten fast food, sent a text message, or driven a car in months- SO WEIRD! I can't wait for my dad and brother, Andrew to come visit...I know it's still months from now but it's something I'm really looking forward to before I go home! OH! Speaking of home- congrats to Betty for getting a job at a Methodist church in Arizona!!!! YAY- very good news there :)

Before I leave I have a funny story...so you know how I always talk about how bad the food is here? Alright so for dinner tonight, they had 2 options- chicken stir fry, or plum pork (*gag*). ANYWAY, I opted for the stir fry, but noticed the chicken was tasting a little weird... we ending up realized that they had switched the meats on accident and didn't even realize! The meat was so discolored that it looked just like pork. YEAH. GROSSSSSS. I just shivered thinking about it again. Yuck.

Anywaaaaay, I'm sorry none of my posts are going to top my Fiji one, but I hope people are still reading! :) I love you guys a miss you a ton! Thanks to everyone who sent me mail this week- you know who you are!

I was so excited to see you finally posted again, you have no idea. You were definitely slacking there for a bit :)

Anywho, I can't believe that face is the only thing you've had to do ALL semester. I might just move to Aussieland now since their view of work and my view of work seem to be the same :) I'm so excited that we're on EB next semester! In the words of Rihanna, we're gonna run this town tonight. For sure. I miss you tons and I can't wait to see you when you get back and have you come up to stay at our new place!

July 1st, hurry up and bring Lauren back to America!!
